BMBF joint project KaWaTech Solutions
Within the scope of the "KaWaTech Solutions" collaborative project (Funding Code: 02WCL1415, Duration: November 2016 to October 2019) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), German and Vietnamese partners from universities, research institutes, and government agencies work together towards developing and testing innovative solutions for karst water supply. In this regard, the focus lies on efficient and sustainable pumping, distribution, and treatment of overground and underground water resources in subtropical and tropical regions based on renewable energy sources.
The R&D activities build on the results and technological achievements of the BMBF collaborative project "KaWaTech" (Funding Code: 02WCL1291A, Duration: September 2013 to August 2016) and concentrate on the project region of Dong Van Karst Plateau in the north of Vietnam. A central goal of this project was the implementation of a pilot water pumping plant to guarantee sustainable water supply for approx. 10,000 people.
Since the local socio-cultural and natural conditions are typical of rural areas in emerging and developing nations as well as of karst regions in the subtropical and tropical zone, the technologies developed can also be applied to other regions in need.
Apart from current news, the project website provides you with an overview of the project region, project goals, previous results, and project partners as well as profiles of work packages and subprojects.
